چکیده
We relate topological properties of non-Hermitian systems and observables quantum open by using the Keldysh path-integral method. express Green's functions in terms effective Hamiltonians that contain all relevant information. arrive at a frequency dependent index is linked to response system perturbations given frequency. show how detect transition between different phases measuring local perturbations. Our formalism exemplified 1D Hatano-Nelson model, highlighting difference bosonic fermionic cases

Bridging the Gender Gap in Quantum Physics
Works Cited 71-73 Acknowledgments: First and foremost, my sincere gratitude goes to the Pomona College Physics Department for their support of this slightly unconventional project. Being able to work on a senior exercise of tremendous personal interest meant so much to me. Particular thanks to Prof. Moore, Kwok, Edwards, Tanenbaum, and Mawhorter for the major parts they all played in this proje...
متن کاملBridging the Gap between Systems Design and Space Systems Software
A challenging problem for software engineering practitioners is moving from high-level system architectures produced by system engineers to deployable software produced by software engineers. In this paper we describe our experience working with NASA engineers to develop an approach and toolset for automating the generation of space systems software from architectural specifications. Our experi...
متن کاملBridging the gap between quantum Monte Carlo and F12-methods
Tensor product approximation of pair-correlation functions opens a new route from quantum Monte Carlo (QMC) to explicitly correlated F12 methods. Thereby one benefits from stochastic optimization techniques used in QMC to get optimal pair-correlation functions which typically recover more than 85 % of the total correlation energy. Our approach incorporates, in particular, core and core-valence ...
متن کاملTopological transition in a non-Hermitian quantum walk.
We analyze a quantum walk on a bipartite one-dimensional lattice, in which the particle can decay whenever it visits one of the two sublattices. The corresponding non-Hermitian tight-binding problem with a complex potential for the decaying sites exhibits two different phases, distinguished by a winding number defined in terms of the Bloch eigenstates in the Brillouin zone. We find that the mea...
متن کاملNon-Hermitian Quantum Systems and Time-Optimal Quantum Evolution
Recently, Bender et al. have considered the quantum brachistochrone problem for the non-Hermitian PT -symmetric quantum system and have shown that the optimal time evolution required to transform a given initial state |ψi〉 into a specific final state |ψf 〉 can be made arbitrarily small. Additionally, it has been shown that finding the shortest possible time requires only the solution of the two...
